In this exhibition, Svirplyté absorbs everyday life and uses it to construct imaginary, sometimes cringey stories in colourful tapestry. This make-belief world is an escape from reality as well as a way of dealing with fears. A bit of escapism dressed up as hope. In Galerie Rufus, Svirplyté delves into her own history and stitches together religion and superstition, phobia, demons, suns and fantastic creatures. All made with needle and thread—and a sfumato smile, of course.
