In this exhibition, Claus paints and observes life through today’s fashions. Garments in vivid shades of everything are pictured without bodies, like anonymous costumes: they play hide and seek behind curtains, tapestries and ornaments. Frescoes, balconies and gates bleed into one another, while graceful objects dialogue with banal, often bewildering pieces. Think bags of roasted chicken, a ravishing Moët ladder, a curvaceous Ikea mirror, a couple of canes in waiting and a sardonic purse. But mostly: be surprised.
