In ‘Un bon arbre porte de bon fruits’, Lidia starts resolutely from paternal memories ─ the phrase is literally the opening line from a personal, bequeathed collection of texts. By plucking these fertile memories from their original habitat and then distorting them, her own ‘bubble’ is created: a safe space of movement for comfort and processing. To visualise all these memories, artist and father figure are given a key role in the metaphorical exhibition. The result is a symbolic play of meaning between narcissus and sunflower, in which narrative and painting time present a beguiling false image.
