Lidia Sciarrotta (b 2001, Oudenaarde) graduated as Master of Fine Arts at KASK in 2024, is an illustrator slash painter and pasionaria with Sicilian roots. In the autobiographical works, an array of oil paint takes its time each time to be absorbed by the wooden panel. Thus, characteristic, repetitive forms steadily emerge, transporting you to an unnatural, engaging environment. Sciarrotta is mainly guided by naive and surrealist painting, taking childhood memories bluntly out of context and embalming them towards an idealised world.
