PhD researcher Yingda Dong is an award-winning illustrator and currently teaches at LUCA School of Arts in Ghent. Every morning, Dong draws a suggestive shape, adds “a pair of eyes”, and transforms it into a figure that appeals to the imagination. What starts as a playful ritual, inspired by Chinese calligraphy, unfolds into a meditative series of figures on the threshold of symbol and story. Dong conducts a poetic exploration of visual language, subconscious impulses, and intercultural imagination.
