Elise Boucquez (°1991) graduated from KASK Ghent in 2018 with a Masters in Drawing, has a background in fashion and currently works in the crossover of painting, drawing, writing and textile design. Recurring themes are patterns, rhythm, repetition, layering and materiality. Boucquez is showing work from the 'Waves' series at Galerie Rufus: a vibrant series on cardboard, canvas and textiles. They are all plant-like, organic forms that explore the dynamic contrast between dark and light ─ day and night. In them, the boundary between drawing and writing is repeatedly explored: lines and dots form simple, rhythmic movements and words are deconstructed in a visual game.
