The Blooming Temper In this twelfth exhibition, five fresh talents bloom with temperament while developing a signature all their own.

Lidia Sciarrotta paints on oil-on-panel world populated with contrasts and memories that are not quite what they appear. Hers are works with outlandish landscapes that look at the same time appealing and mad. Marieke Bontinck’s tone is a more fragile one. Part porous poetry, part raw melancholy met with lively nostalgia, her imagination finds a language that’s frail yet firmly rooted. Paintings signed Sofia Pashaei find togetherness in being different. As an onlooker, you’ll see feminine figures being idle while keeping busy. Not wholly there, not completely gone either — thinking, reflecting, sighing. A series of ladies’ portraits that incite even more thinking. Hélène Meyer is all botanist shapes wrought in organic-looking ornaments. A sea of psychedelic shades whirling, leading you only to getting lost. On the one hand, her painting is a homage to nature. On the other, it’s a warning against its demise. Elisia Poelman’s paintings spell out everyday life in the great outdoors. Colours à gogo, rhyming and chiming and dancing freely on the canvas. Her vistas escape the speed of a high-octane virtual society, all the while inviting a stint of contemplation.

The Blooming Temper’ is a five-course dinner that brims with brightness, a sense of being adrift, melancholy memories and sunshine.
